Mental health discussed

LUFKIN -- The Regional Board of Directors of the Rural East Texas Health Network (RETHN) recently met at the Mental Health Emergency Center in Lufkin. The RETHN Regional Board is comprised of representatives from the eleven RETHN local advisory boards that meet in counties across our Deep East Texas region. At the May meeting, board members discussed several matters concerning the mental health delivery system for our area, as well as the nomination of the RETHN for a community service award from the Texas Council of Community Centers. The board also reviewed the network’s strategic plan, and received a report on the Burke Center’s purchase of a new internet server that could be used for mental health evaluations at the county jail, local hospital, as well as other local locations via teleconferencing. Use of this technology would help to expedite the mental health emergency delivery system to get those in crisis the help they need in a more timely and efficient manner.
