Annual Christmas events planned

COLDSPRING – Two annual Christmas events are being prepared for the public in downtown Coldspring. On Nov. 29, merchants are preparing for their annual Christmas Town Lighting. The event will feature the offi cial turning on of Christmas lights and the beginning of the Christmas season in San Jacinto County. The public is invited to stroll the sidewalks and courthouse square while enjoying holiday decorations and hospitality of local merchants. The 26th Annual Christmas on the Square will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13. The day-long event will end with a lighted evening parade scheduled to begin around 5:45 p.m. Day activities include entertainment at various locations around the courthouse square, food, craft and antique markets and a community choir. The choir performs from 5 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church during Christmas on the Square. The choir is made up of community members and area churches. Activities are also scheduled at the Old Jail Museum in Old Town Coldspring. For more information, call the Coldspring/San Jacinto County Chamber of Commerce at 936-653-2184.
