Early voting begins
San Jacinto News- Times - October 2008

COLDSPRING – Early voting in the Nov. 4 General Election opened Monday with a record 329 casting ballots by 3:30 p.m. in San Jacinto County. Early voting will continue through Oct. 31, in the San Jacinto County Senior Annex located at 51 East Pine Avenue next to the San Jacinto County Senior Citizen’s Center. Extended early voting hours will include Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 12:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the Senior Annex Building. Polls will be open throughout the county from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Voters will also decide the fate of a proposition on the ballot. Voters will vote “For” or “Against” the proposition authorizing the creation of the San Jacinto County Assistance District and the imposition of a sales and use tax at the rate of one-half of one percent for the purpose of fi nancing the operation of the district in the county under chapter 387 of the Local Government Code, excluding the city limits of the City of Shepherd and excluding the City Limits of the City of Coldspring and any territory in the county where the sales and use tax is currently at two percent.

The ballot includes Republican (REP), Democratic (DEM) and Libertarian (LIB) Party candidates.

Voters can cast a straight party ballot by checking either party or vote for the following candidates on the ballot:
