Deputies initiate narcotics raid, investigate accidental shooting and suicide

SHEPHERD – San Jacinto County Deputies were dispatched to an accidental shooting in Five Acres and Independence, Shepherd, on Sunday, Sept. 27. According to San Jacinto County Sheriff James Walters, a male pulled out his shotgun from behind the seat of his truck when it discharged and struck his passenger who was standing outside the vehicle. The passenger was shot in the leg and transported to Livingston Emergency Room and then sent by ground to Hermann Memorial Hospital, Houston. “He is listed in good condition at this time,” Walters said. “This is a good time to remind all hunters to check your weapons and be safe this hunting season,” Walters said.
Drug raid
Other cases investigated during the week included a narcotics raid on Wednesday, Sept. 23, resulting three people being arrested at the scene for possession, with other arrest warrants being issued, according to Sheriff Walters. The raid was initiated around 3 p.m. by the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Polk County SRT Team, Walters said. Following months of undercover investigations, fi ve different residences on FM 222, Coldspring, were raided with drugs, weapons and cash being recovered.
Suicide ruled
A 17-year-old Conroe High School student from Montgomery County was found hanging in a tree at a swimming area on Peach Creek behind a subdivision. The female was found by a hunter on Sunday morning, Sept. 27. She had not been seen since Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Sheriff Walters. “Her death has been ruled a suicide,” Walters said. |
