C-OCISD trustees cast votes for appraisal board
San Jacinto News- Times - November 2009

COLDSPRING -- Coldspring- Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District trustees meeting in regular session last week cast votes by resolution for the San Jacinto County Appraisal District board of directors. Richard Boudreaux, J.R. Shuttlesworth, and Lawrence Godfrey received COCISD support. In October, trustees nominated these same candidates for the Appraisal board ballot. Appraisal District board members are named based on votes cast by County taxing entities. COCISD holds 2,215 voting shares for the election. Boudreaux and Shuttlesworth received 1,000 votes each. Godfrey received 215 votes. In other business, trustees accepted a recommendation by Superintendent LaTonya Goffney to employ Johnny Walker as Lincoln Junior High’s new assistant principal. Walker fi lls the position vacated by Penny Spivey, who now serves as LJH principal. Walker, a Coldspring- Oakhurst High School graduate, begins his new position on December 1. Goffney also reported to trustees that as directed she talked with County Judge Fritz Faulkner and County Commissioner Laddie McAnally regarding a proposed inter-local cooperation agreement request by the San Jacinto County Emergency Services District. The ESD is requesting emergency- only use of an undeveloped road on COCISD property. As the road is rarely used, it would require some construction and maintenance. Goffney says County offi cials said that there is no immediate need for the road. Therefore, at this time, they agreed the matter is “null and void.” COCISD business manager, Adam Jenke, reported that anticipated tax collections released recently by the County Tax Assessor’s offi ce are consistent with District projections. “Maintenance and Operations allocations to be collected are about $140,000 less than what we expected,” Jenke said, “but with anticipated delinquent collections the District should be able to meet its local funding obligations as projected.”
