San Jacinto News- Times
SHEPHERD -- Shepherd Independent School District trustees approved a School Improvement Plan for the Primary, Intermediate and Middle School campuses. During the public forum, Laura Redden, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Special Programs, Carol Reid, External CIT and Campus Principals discussed targeted campus initiatives and strategies, new actions for improvement and accountability. The Primary/Intermediate campus received an Academically Unacceptable rating for writing scores and Shepherd Middle School campus received an Academically Unacceptable rating for science on the 2010-2011 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. Based on this rating, a SIP must be put into place and is a means to improve implementation of programs and student performance. Prior to the October board meeting, the campus principals began working closely with Laura Redden, Internal CIT and Carol Reid, External CIT, to ensure that effective implementation of research based strategies and practices were put into place to meet the needs of the students.
