COLDSPRING -- School districts in San Jacinto County will be closed through the remainder of this week due to Hurricane Ike. Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District (COCISD) Superintendent LaTonya Goffney said schools in the COCISD will resume Monday, Sept. 22. The Coldspring Trojans were scheduled to play Diboll this Friday night at home. That game has been rescheduled and will now be played Saturday, Sept. 20, in Diboll, according to Goffney. Goffney said only the football team will be asked to travel to Diboll due to the gasoline situation. Classes in the Shepherd Independent School District (SISD) will also resume Monday, Sept. 22. Classes there were cancelled last Friday, as were COCISD) awaiting landfall of Hurricane Ike. “We have no plans at this time (Tuesday, Sept. 16) to reschedule our game with Woodville that was scheduled to be played Friday, Sept. 19,” said SISD Superintendent Jody Cronin.
