County to house Trinity County inmates
San Jacinto News- Times
COLDSPRING – San Jacinto County will be housing more inmates from Trinity County, following approval of an interlocal agreement between the two counties last week by commissioners’ court. The county currently houses about six Trinity County inmates on a previously approved agreement at a cost of $40 per day per inmate. Recognizing that transportation was a problem in getting more inmates, the court recently approved the purchase of a 15 passenger van so that the county can also transport and continue to house Trinity County’s inmates, therefore; a revised agreement was approved to include transportation as well as housing up to 35 more inmates from Trinity County in the future. The price per inmate for housing and transportation, which will include travel back and forth for hearings and trials, will remain at $40 per inmate per day. Medical treatment for the Trinity County inmates will be paid by San Jacinto County with Trinity County reimbursing San Jacinto County later. Pending approval from the Department of Justice, early voting will be conducted in Old Waverly Voting Box 14 on Oct. 23. Early voting in Evergreen Voting Box 3 was previously approved by the court after that box was approved by the Department of Justice for early voting. Inter-local agreements with the cities of Point Blank and Shepherd were approved by the court.
