COLDSPRING – A Coldspring resident was killed in a one-vehicle accident Saturday. According to Department of Safety Trooper Rae Shel Lee, Christopher Ryan Bertelsen, 25, died when he failed to execute a curve on FM 224 about six miles from Hwy. 156 around 3:13 a.m. Aug. 28. Lee said Bertelsen was traveling on FM 224 and entered a sharp right curve too fast, skidding 200 feet down the asphalt road before skidding up a grassy embankment and striking a wooden fence. The wooden fence punctured the vehicles windshield entering the passenger’s compartment and striking Bertelsen in the head before hitting the fence again and coming to rest on a steep grassy embankment.
