Time changes noted in upcoming fair, rodeo

COLDSPRING – The 63rd annual San Jacinto County Fair and Rodeo begins Friday, Sept. 24 and continues through Saturday, Oct. 2 with several time changes noted for popular events. The parade will start at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 instead of 10 a.m. as it has in years past. If you haven’t entered a fl oat in the parade, it isn’t too late. This year’s parade theme is “Cowboy Boots and Country Roots.” Another important time change noted is that of the San Jacinto County Livestock Auction. This year it is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. as in past years. It will still be held on the last day of the fair and rodeo, Saturday, Oct. 2. The San Jacinto County Fair and Rodeo Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Adults will be charged $10 and children 12 and under will be charged $6. The dance features the Jason Cassidy Band. It will be held at the San Jacinto County Fairgrounds in Coldspring. The San Jacinto County Trail Riders will have their 52nd annual Trail Ride associated with the fair and rodeo on Saturday, Sept. 25. The ride will start at Danny and Sandy Everitt’s house in Shepherd and end at the fairgrounds in Coldspring. The Everitt’s home is located in Shepherd at 510 Wes Howard Road on FM 2666. Cost for the ride will be $10 per person and will include the ride only. The ride will pull-out at 9 a.m. Negative Coggins is required.
