Fundraising bike ride scheduled for COHS school clubs

COLDSPRING -- The Coldspring-Oakhurst Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Science Club will host a supported bike ride on Saturday, Nov. 9, as a fundraiser to cover the cost of science department classroom supplies and FBLA regional and state competitions. Beginning at 8 a.m. at the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School parking lot, the ride will span approximately 40 miles through the Sam Houston National Forest and rural countryside. A "supported bike ride" is one which offers rest stops and mechanical assistance to riders who pay a pre-registration fee of $30 to participate. Each of the four rest stops along the mapped trail will include snacks, drinks, restroom facilities, and encouragement for the riders. Join now for a great day of bike riding and supporting a great cause. Deadline for pre-registration is Oct. 31. Pre-registration price is $30. Cost after deadline is $35, or $40 on the day of the ride. To register now, visit the COCISD website at www. cocisd.org and click on the Coldspring Forest Venture Bike Ride link. Registration on the day of the ride begins at 6:30 a.m. in the COHS Gymnasium. FBLA advisers are Susan Caldwell and Jacob Powell. Science Club sponsors are Karen Brugman and Lynde Phillips.
