Early voting starts in Shepherd school board, city elections

SHEPHERD – Early voting in the Shepherd Independent School Board of Trustee Election and the City of Shepherd mayor and council races started Monday and continues through Nov. 2.

Five candidates have filed for Position 3 on the SISD board, which was vacated by Reece Enloe when he resigned recently.

Those seeking the position are Dwayne Wright, Waid Lee Williams, J. David Brown, Michael Flynt and Michael Courvelle.

Early voting for SISD Position 3 will be held weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the SISD Administration Building at 1401 S. Byrd Avenue. Election Day the SISD election for Trustee Position 3 will be held in conjunction with the San Jacinto County Constitutional Amendment Election on Nov. 6 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the following polling locations: Pct. 2 Shepherd Community Center; Pct 4 Cozy Forest Subdivision, Pct. 13 Mercy Water Supply.

In the race for mayor of the City of Shepherd, Bill Hamzy and Pat A. Killion are competing for the position.

Two positions on the Shepherd City Council are up for election, following recent resignations by council members.

Seeking election to the at-large seats are Cynthia A. Foxworth, Frankie Wade, Olene Reaves, Derlin Barnhill, Raj C. Dalwadi, Kevin Lee Thoms and Peter E. Ryba.

Early voting in the Shepherd City Council and mayor’s race will be held at Shepherd City Hall from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
