San Jacinto Newstimes - November 2007
Voters statewide favored all 16 of the proposed constitutional amendments Tuesday. Unofficial election results indicate that San Jacinto County favored all but Proposition 4 – Issuance of up to $1 in bonds for construction projects.
How San Jacinto County voted on the propositions:
Proposition 1: Appropriation for facilities at Angelo State University – 672 for, 486 against.
Proposition 2: Issuance of $500 million bonds to finance student loans – 705 for, 493 against.
Proposition 3: Limiting appraised value of the residence homestead – 834 for, 365 against.
Proposition 4: Issuance of up to $1 million in bonds for construction projects – 572 for, 625 against.
Proposition 5: Local election to limit municipal property taxes – 729 for, 452 against.
Proposition 6: Exempt from ad valorem tax one motor vehicle owned by an individual – 890 for, 315 against.
Proposition 7: Allow government entities to sell properties acquired by eminent domain – 930 for, 265 against.
Proposition 8: Clarify provision relating to a home equity loan – 878 for, 308 against.
Proposition 9: Exempt totally disabled veterans from ad valorem taxation – 991 for, 199 against.
Proposition 10: Abolish the office of inspector of hides and animals – 810 for, 362 against.
Proposition 11: To provide for public access on the Internet of Legislative votes – 901 for, 270 against.
Proposition 12: Issuance of bonds not to exceed $5 million for highway improvement – 634 for, 557 against.
Proposition 13: Deny bail to a person who violates certain orders or conditions, -- 979 for, 216 against.
Proposition 14: Permit a justice or judge to serve the remainder term – 870 for, 318 against.
Proposition 15: Creation of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas – 674 for, 519 against.
Proposition 16: Issuance of bonds for assistance to economically distressed areas – 643 for, 536 against.
