Artists asked to prepare for fair
Trinity Standard -
TRINITY – With the 62nd Annual Trinity Community Fair just around the corner, local artists are being asked to get their entries ready for the annual vent. The only free fair left in Texas, this year’s edition will be held on Sept. 23-24 at the Trinity Community Center off Highway 19 South. While events such as the livestock show and auction will take place in the nearby arena, the art show will be among the activities planned inside the community center. There is no entry fee to compete for prize ribbons in the event and art to be judged will include works created using oils, water colors, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, pastels and crayon. Tracings will not be allowed. Each item must be mounted or framed with a mounted hanger. Entries must have a small card placed in the lower right-hand corner with the name of the artist, the subject, media used and whether it is an original work or a copy. Judges for the contest will be graduates of the Sam Houston State University art department. Entries will be accepted starting on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 22, at the community center. Artists submitting work will be asked to fill out a form at that time indicating who will be allowed to pickup the artwork at the end of the fair on Saturday, Sept. 24. The times to drop off or pickup artwork will be listed in the fair catalog and in future editions of The Trinity Standard. In addition to the art show, there will be a separate children’s art show with artwork prepared by students from the Trinity school system. For information about the art show, contact chairpersons Irene Sanders or Penny Willmann at 594-3501.
