Trinity Standard -

TRINITY – Assistant District Attorney Bennie Schiro has announced he is considering making an election bid for the district attorney’s post in next year’s Republican Party Primary. Schiro made the announcement during last week’s meeting of the Trinity County Republican Party. According to TCRP Vice Chair Carl Dyer, those attending the lunch meeting voiced their approval of Schiro’s tentative plan. Before serving as assistant D.A. under 258th District Attorney Joe Ned Dean, Schiro worked in the office of Walker County District Attorney David P. Weeks. He and his wife, Brenda, live in Trinity with their son, Brady. “We’re pleased that Bennie is considering a run for district attorney, a job for which he is well qualified and well suited,” Dyer said. “We’re particularly glad that he has chosen to run in the Republican Primary. Our slate of candidates is growing and we are looking forward to more candidate announcements in the coming months.”
