Locals jailed on marijuana charges

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. – Two Trinity residents were in jail in Louisiana last week in connection with more than half a ton of marijuana seized in St. Martin Parish.
According to an Associated Press report, state police arrested the driver of a rental truck, Theresa Ford, and a truck passenger, Justin Cole, on Monday, Dec. 15.
Louisiana State Police pulled the truck over on Interstate 10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge during a routine traffic stop.
Officers subsequently found 1,189 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle. The estimated street value was placed at about $1.1 million.
Both Ford and Cole were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
