Upward Soccer begins 4th season in Trinity
Trinity Standard - December 2008
TRINITY – Registration for the fourth season of Upward Soccer is now underway at the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church.
Early registration runs through Jan. 5 and registration will close on Jan. 15.
Open to children who are currently in kindergarten through the sixth grade, the Upward Soccer program focuses on teaching skills of the sport by allowing equal playing time to all participants. Organizers also attempt to create teams with equal abilities.
Registration forms are available at the church office. Forms and payments can be dropped off at the church office or mailed to the church at DWMBC Attn: Upwards, P.O. Box 112, Trinity, TX 75862.
The registration fee for soccer is $65, which includes reversible jersey, t-shirt, individual awards after each practice and game, an end of season award, and more. To encourage early registration, those who signup before Jan. 5 will receive a $10 discount on the fee.
In addition to all the gear, the children will participate in an hour-long weekly practice beginning the week of Jan. 19 and one game per week on Saturdays for six consecutive weeks starting Jan. 31.
In order to have equal teams, soccer players are individually evaluated and placed on their teams based on their evaluation scores.
The soccer evaluations will be held at Dorcas Wills Family Life Center on January 12-15 from 6-8 p.m. To speed up the evaluation process, registering prior to Jan. 9 is recommended.
