Commissioners approve 2nd monthly meeting
Trinity Standard -
GROVETON – A plan to schedule a second monthly meeting of the Trinity County Commissioners Court was approved Monday. During a special session to consider the ongoing fire danger, county commissioners approved a request from County Judge Doug Page to schedule meetings on both the second and fourth Mondays of each month. For years the court’s regular sessions have fallen on the second Monday but Page said Monday there is now a need for two scheduled meeting dates. “Lately we have had to call at least one special meeting each month and it would just be a lot easier to put it on a regular schedule,” Page said. At present, the court’s regular meetings are held at 9 a.m. Because the court sets its “regular” meeting date schedule in an order issued each October, the fourth Monday meetings will be listed as “specials sessions” for the time being. Commissioners indicated that if the two-meeting-a-month schedule works out, the fourth Monday dates would be included as regular sessions when the next annual order is issued in October. In other business during the meeting the court reissued its ban on outdoor burning. The new order is the same as the last but extends the ban for another 90 days.
