Drug delivery charges filed
Trinity Standard -
TRINITY – A 57-year-old Trinity man was being held under bonds totaling $40,000 this week after being arrested on drug charges last week. Marshall Mitchell was arrested by Police Chief Steve Jones and Sgt. Randy Wheeler Wednesday, June 20, during an investigation on Spruce Street near its intersection of Israel Otis. Jones said the officers were following up on a tip that drug activity was underway and drove the area. As they were arriving, Jones said he saw the suspect in front of his residence, standing by the driver’s side window of a vehicle. As the police car pulled onto Spruce Street, the vehicle pulled away leaving the suspect standing on the side of the street. Upon questioning the suspect, Jones said he could detect a strong aroma of marijuana. During a subsequent search, the police chief discovered marijuana in the suspect’s pocket and placed him under arrest. Small quantities of crack cocaine and methamphetamines also were confiscated. Mitchell was charged with three counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and was later transferred into the custody of the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department. |
