B&G Club raises $7,500 from annual golf tourney
Trinity Standard - June 2008
TRINITY -- The recent golf tournament benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Trinity held at Westwood Shores Country Club raised approximately $7,500 for the local club.
The total was reached, in part, with proceeds from golf entry fees, mulligans purchased, silent auction sales, hole sponsors, barbecue lunches sold, donations and a very special “refreshment table” on hole #16 manned by Miss Abigail Weaver and her friend, Kendij.
According to Joyce Porter, one of the B&G Club organizers of the event, so many local businesses contributed to the success of this tournament with their donations and hole sponsors for the tournament and their support is “just overwhelming.”
“And without the golfers, there would be no tournament so we are most grateful to them,” Porter said. “We had numerous volunteers from Westwood Shores who worked this tournament and helped to make it successful and we would like to offer our appreciation to them.”
First place winners were Ralph Montemayor, Johnny Montemayor, Tony Gutierrez, and Larry Small who were sponsored by Maxie’s Professional Tree Service of Conroe; taking second were Billy Sheffield, Pete Araiza, Ted Pistole, and John Christ; third place went to Steve Wright, Bryce Blevins, Walt Willmann and Jim Davis.
Closest to the pin on #4 was Larry Small; closest to the pin on #17 was James Williams; and longest drive on #9 was Tony Gutierrez.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Trinity is so fortunate to have people in our community who believe that we are truly making a difference in the lives of our children and make every effort to support our fundraisers,” Porter added.
“We appreciate everything you do to sustain our Club and the results of our joint efforts are making an impact on our youth. Thanks for all that you do for us.”
