Scholarships top $200,000 for Class of 2010

TRINITY – More than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded last week during the annual Scholarship Night program hosted by Trinity High School More than 30 scholarships – some to multiple winners – were presented to members of the THS Class of 2010 during the program hosted at the First United Methodist Church Activity Building. Graduation ceremonies for the class are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the Trinity Pines Conference Center located off FM 356 east of Trinity. Following is a list of the scholarships and the winners: State of Texas Honor Graduate Award, which goes to the class valedictorian: Katherine Hernandez, valued at about $2,445. Al Wiedeman Memorial Scholarship: Amanda Pyle, $100. The First National Bank-Dr. Sam Barnes Scholarship: Adam Furbee, valued at $500 per semester for up to eight semesters. Fair Queen Scholarship: Sidney Holmes. Joe Werner Masonic Lodge Scholarship: Amanda Pyle, $1,200. Charlene Carr Memorial-Order of the Easter Star Scholarship: Sidney Holmes, $500. Baylor University Provost Scholarship: Katherine Hernandez, $34,000. Baylor University Presidential Scholarship: Ar’Niqua Coleman, $30,000. University of Mary Hardin Baylor Honor Scholarship: Ar’Niqua Coleman, $16,000. Trinity Ex-Students Association presented eight scholarships to 10 students including: • John Martin Memorial Scholarship: Colby Hudnall, $500. • Edgar and Olive May Scholarship: Courtney Ellis, $500. • Calihan Family Memorial Scholarship: Shakevia Callahan, $500. • Lloyd and Mozelle Bell Scholarship: Amanda Pyle, $1,000. • Royal and Doyal Lowery Scholarship: Adam Furbee. • Stevenson Family Scholarship: Justin Womack, $1,000. • Class of 1959 Scholarship: Harvey Bacon and Curtisha Woods, $1,000 each. • Trinity Ex-Students Scholarship: Ar’Niqua Coleman and Miranda Pruitt, $1,000 each. Trinity Thoroughbred Scholarship: Shunqrela Holoman, $1,000. WBT&S Scholarship Ar’Niqua Coleman, $1,000. Stephen F. Austin State University Academic Excellence Scholarship: Katherine Hernandez, Curtisha Woods, Ar’Niqua Coleman and Harvey Bacon, $3,000 renewable awards each. Trinity Scholarship Fund awards: Miranda Pruitt, Shunqrela Holoman, Mark Cole, Katherine Hernandez, Amanda Pyle, Harvey Bacon, Ar’Niqua Coleman, Curtisha Woods, Colby Hudnall, Shakevia Callahan and Adam Furbee, $1,000 each. Patsy Bell Jolly Memorial Scholarships: Justin Womack and Colby Hudnall, $250. Lone Star Ex-Students’ Scholarships: Michael Byerly, Jicarious Jackson and Johnny English Jr., $500. Roy Cross Sr. Memorial Scholarship: Shambrail Woods, Curtisha Woods and Shunqrela Holoman, $300. Terry Foundation Scholarship (University of Texas at Austin): Ar’Niqua Coleman, $52,000 over four years. University of Texas at Austin Presidential Achievement Scholarship, Ar’Niqua Coleman, $10,000, plus $2,000 for being in the Top 10 Percent. Knights of Columbus Scholarship: Dalton Cole, $1,500. Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Scholarship: Ar’Niqua Coleman, $1,000; Dalton Cole, $500. Most Holly Trinity Ladies Guild Scholarship: Dalton Cole. VFW Senior Scholarship: Miranda Pruitt, $4,000. Career Colleges and Schools of Texas Scholarships, Angel Reyes, Colby Hudnall and Johnny English, $1,000. Imagine America Scholarship: Angel Reyes, Colby Hudnall and Johnny English, $1,000. Lion’s Club Scholarship: Colby Hudnall and Miranda Pruitt, $500. Lon Morris Athletic Scholarship: Shambrail Woods. PTA Scholarship: Amanda Pyle, $750. University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunner Scholarship: Ar’Niqua Coleman, $1,000. Sam Houston State University Honors College Scholarship: Katherine Hernandez, $400 per semester. State Farm Scholar Athlete Award: Shambrail Woods, Curtisha Woods and Ryan Mack. UIL Scholars Awards: Daniela Mendez, Austin Witt, Sidney Holmes, Harvey Bacon, Ryan Mack, Massey Allee, Amanda Pyle, Blake Busby, Katherine Hernandez, Miranda Pruitt, Ashley Stansberry, Curtisha Woods and Shambrail Woods. Daughters of the American Revolution Awards: Katherine Hernandez and Harvey Bacon.
