Former councilman dies from gunshot wound
Trinity Standard -
TRINITY – Longtime Trinity City Councilman was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon after apparently suffering a single gunshot wound to his head. Dayrl Morrow, 65, was found dead in his home off Elm Street in Trinity after he failed to contact friends and did not answer his telephone. The friend then went to Morrow’s home to check on him and found the doors locked and Morrow’s vehicle in the driveway. Upon looking through a bedroom window, the friend spotted a body and called police. According to Trinity Police Chief Steve Jones, a .25 caliber automatic pistol was found near the body. He said the investigation indicates the former city official died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Morrow served “on and off” on the city council for 16 years between 1980 and 2008. He worked in car and land sales and in recent years as a bail bondsman. Funeral services for Morrow will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in Trinity. |
