Dorcas Wills plans mother-daughter event

TRINITY – Best selling author, Vicki Courtney” will present the YOU+UR GIRL Simulcast as part of a mother-daughter program hosted locally by the Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church. The event will is planned for Saturday, April 9 at the church, located at 201 N. Robb St. in Trinity. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. and continue to 3:30 p.m. Cost will be $5 per person and will include a boxed lunch and drink. Deadline to purchase tickets is March 31. During the program, Courtney will be speaking from Nashville, Tenn. to hundreds of mothers and daughters during and HD Internet broadcast to locations across the country. The YOU+UR GIRL event is classified as a mother-daughter program but is open to mothers, grandmothers or special female adults and girls ages 10-18. It is designed to provide mothers with spiritual encouragement and practical tools to navigate through this generation. Courtney will encourage moms to equip daughters to steer away from today’s “ungodly culture” toward a God-filled life. Her messages as well as music led by The Sonflowerz and age-specific breakout sessions, are designed to inspire both mothers and daughters to a closer relationship with each other and with God. Courtney is a mother of three, a speaker and author of 15 publications, including the Teen Virtue series: Between: A Girl’s Guide to Life; Your Girl; Raising a Godly Daughter; and His Girl devotional. She writes specifically for the “tween and teen” audience regarding issues and trends most relevant to their life stage – such as worth, modesty and purity. Also addressing parents, Courtney offers advice on issues ranging from Internet safety and relationships to pop culture and character building. The schedule of the April 9 program includes two worship sessions and two general sessions with mothers and daughters attending together. In addition, there will be two breakout sessions when Courtney will address mothers while daughters are in separate age level sessions led by trained leaders.
