HUNTSVILLE – Three 17-year-old Trinity men and a 16-year-old juvenile were in the custody of Walker County authorities this week in connection with a purse snatching incident reported Saturday in Huntsville. Anthony Callahan, Aaron Mack and Dante Higgs were each being held this week in the Walker County Jail under felony organized crime charges. The 16-year-old was being held in a juvenile detention center in Palestine. All three of the 17-year-olds were ordered held under $3,000 bonds. Callahan and Mack remained in jail on Tuesday while Higgs was free after posting bond. According to Lt. Jim Barnes of the Huntsville Police Department, the incident began about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Huntsville. A 72-year-old woman was loading groceries into her vehicle when a suspect grabbed her purse from her shopping cart. Barnes said the suspect jumped into a waiting vehicle and took off. A witness at the scene followed the fleeing car until Huntsville officers arrived and were able to stop it. The four were taken into custody and property belonging to the elderly victim was recovered. The organized crime charge was filed because it is alleged that three or more suspects conspired to commit a felony.
