Motorcycle ride benefits area veterans

TRINITY – A bike ride benefiting area veterans and their families will be hosted Saturday, May 22 by the Trinity County Wall of Honor Society. Registration for the event starts at 10 a.m. at K.C’s “I Love This Bar and Grill” off FM 356 at White Rock Acres Rd. The motorcycle ride will begin at noon. Entry fee is $15 plus $10 for extra riders. Proceeds from the event will be used to benefit local military veterans and the families of veterans. Organizers noted that over the past several months, the Wall of Honor Society has provided funds and other assistance for a number of projects that impacted needy veterans and/or their families. Among the projects were: • Provided toys for veterans’ kids at Christmas. • Assisted with the funeral expenses of a veteran. • Provided funds to the Wounded Warrior Family Center at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. • Helped repair sheet rock at the home of a veteran. • Helped with heating and electrical repairs at the home of a veteran. • Repaired a veteran’s roof. • Helped a veteran catch up on his phone bill. • Built wheel chair ramps for area veterans and their dependants. • Provided a load of rock to help repair a veteran’s driveway. • Hosted a Veterans Day luncheon honoring World War II and Korean War veterans. • Helped a World War II veteran with the cost of an eye exam and glasses.
