Missing toddler found

GROVETON – A two-year-old child reported missing last week in the Lake L Acres subdivision near Trinity was found unharmed.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Ralph Montemayor, Rebecca Woods notified his department at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, that the child was missing from their residence.
The sheriff said officers were dispatched to the subdivision and Pct. 1 Constable Woody Wallace and members of the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department’s rescue squad joined the search effort.
“The home and surrounding area were searched and a road block was set up at the entrance (of the subdivision) to make sure the child was not driven out,” Montemayor said.
At about 11:08 a.m., the sheriff’s department received a call for another Lake L resident who reported a child wearing a diaper was at that residence.
Wallace went to the residence and was able to return the child to the mother.
“I want to thank all of the officers and the rescue squad members who immediately responded,” Montemayor said. “This type of effort and quick response often means the difference between life and death.”
