Holiday food, toy drive begins
Trinity Standard -
TRINITY – The annual campaign in support of the Christmas Basket Program is now underway and area residents are being asked for their support. Sponsored by the Trinity Ministerial Alliance, the food basket program is now in its 25th- plus year. It provides food and toys to needy Trinity County families at Christmas and is totally funded through the donations of local businesses and individuals. Over the years it has grown from about 55 food baskets and used toys to providing food and new toys to over 450 local families in 2010. This year organizers are expecting the program to continue to grow and help is desperately needed to meet the demand. Donations can be made to the Christmas Basket Committee, P.O. Box 651 or P.O. Box 112 Trinity, TX. 75862. The hamburger fundraiser for the toy campaign held at Westwood Shores on Oct. 22nd raised over $4,000 to buy toys for the needy children in this area for Christmas. This effort was organized by Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sheffield with the help of many others.
