County to give TVFD old precinct 2 barn
Trinity Standard -

TRINITY – The first step toward donating the old Precinct 2 Road and Bridge Department barn to the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department was taken last week by the Trinity County Commissioners Court. During a relatively brief meeting held Tuesday, Oct. 9, commissioners approved a recommendation from Pct. 2 Commissioner Rich Chamberlin that the property be turned over to the TVFD. The old barn, which is located near an existing fire station, has not been used by the county for about six years. Precinct 2 disbanded its road and bridge department under previous Commissioner Jannette Hortman and instead contracts with Pct. 3 Commissioner Cecil Webb to maintain its small inventory of roads. Under the plan approved Monday, County Attorney Joe W. Bell will draft an agreement between the county and TVFD. Once both parties come to a final agreement, final action on the donation could be taken by commissioners in December. In other action last week, commissioners also: • Proclaimed October as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” in Trinity County. • Approved the county’s eye witness identification policy.
