Trinity Standard -

GROVETON – Three men were held on drug charges and two others were booked into the county jail on theft complaints during separate investigations last week. According to Sheriff Ralph Montemayor, a traffic stop on Highway 94 near the Neches River on Thursday, Oct. 11, resulted in the arrest of three Lufkin men on drug charges. Coree Jamar Kennedy, 31, and Andre Lamarcus Castle, 25, were charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance while Brandon Keith Fields, 24, was charged with delivery of marijuana. Montemayor said deputies Jake Armstrong and Jon Archer arrested the three following a 2 a.m. traffic stop. In addition to marijuana, the officers seized a quantity of a substance believed to be crack cocaine. The suspected drugs are being forwarded to a laboratory for formal analysis. The officers also found $1,372 in cash in the vehicle. Montemayor commended the two deputies for their work in helping to stop the flow of drugs in Trinity County. Also last week, two men wanted on Trinity County theft warrants were picked up last week in Grimes County and transferred to the Trinity County Jail in Groveton. Brothers Andrew Payne Lambert, 37, and Shawn Paul Lambert, 34, both of Bedias, were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in connection with the theft of wheel rims taken during a burglary this past summer at Roberts Wrecker Service on Highway 19 in Trinity. The wheels were recovered in September and warrants for the arrest of the Lamberts were issued at that time. Both men had reportedly been working offshore but were picked up soon after they returned. Montemayor said Criminal Investigator Ronnie Hunt will continue investigation of other items still missing from that burglary.
