Area youth preparing for 61st annual fair
Trinity Standard -
TRINITY – Brushing, grooming, cutting and clipping are underway throughout the area as Trinity 4-H and FFA members prepare their animals for the 61st Annual Trinity Community Fair. These students have devoted much of their summer vacations to caring for the animals and look forward to seeing their efforts rewarded at the livestock auction at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.25. The annual fair will get underway on Friday, Sept. 24 at the Trinity Community Center. In addition to the livestock show and auction, it will include the traditional parade and crowning of the fair queen on Sept. 25 as well as live entertainment throughout the two-day event. Admission to the two-day fair is free. Buyers also are being asked to get ready for the auction. Interested parties can register prior to the auction during the Buyer’s Reception scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Livestock Committee would like to remind all buyers that payment for the animal (cash, check or letter of credit from their bank) is expected immediately after the auction. If any buyer would like to add-on to a certain child’s project prior to the auction, that can be handled at the Buyer’s Reception or can be mailed in advance to The Trinity County Fair Association (TCFA), PO Box 2664, Trinity, TX 75862. Buyers also need to be prepared to notify TCFA of the disposition of the animal at time of the sale. All animals are expected to be picked up on Sunday, Sept. 26, between 7-8 a.m. Any buyer who plans to donate an animal to a club -- such as the 4H, FFA, Boys & Girls, Safe House, etc -- will need to have a representative on hand of that club to arrange the disposition. The Fair Books have arrived and are being distributed to supporters. A limited number will also be available at the Information Booth in the Exhibit Hall at the fair. There is still time for those who want to take part in the annual event. Information can be obtained from: • Non-commercial Exhibits -- Jaimie Gentry at 661-9717. • Fine Arts -- Irene Sanders/Penny Willmann at 594-3501. Fire arts rules are available on the TCFA website at www.trinitycommunitfair.com. • Parade -- Kim Wheeless at 661-1568 • Fair Board President Buddy Johnson at 662-4175. • General Information -- Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce 594-3856 or email email@example.com. Little Miss September applications are available at Avalon Place, Wildwood Flowers and the chamber office. A complete schedule of events will be published in next week’s edition of the Trinity Standard and can be downloaded from the website.
