TRINITY -- A 25-year-old passenger in a car stropped Sunday for a traffic offenses landed in jail charged with possession of a controlled substance. According to Pct. 1 Constable Woody Wallace, Josue Miguel Reyes was arrested when deputy constables Rusty Barrett and Mark Cole stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Cole said that during the stop, both the driver and Reyes, who was a passenger riding in the front seat, both exited the vehicle. “As the passenger started to get out, I asked him to remain in the vehicle,” Cole said. “He still kept coming out so I told him if I would have to handcuff him if he got out. He still ignored the warning so I handcuffed him. When I looked down through the open door, I saw a small baggie containing white powder laying in plain view.” A field test of the white powder indicated positive as cocaine. Cole transported and booked Reyes in the Trinity Police Department Jail.
