TRINITY – While police have a suspect in a bizarre shooting incident on Sunday, no charges have yet been filed. According to Trinity Police Chief Steve Jones, Tivirus Craft, 33, of Trinity was outside of a residence on Locke Street Sunday night when a man with a handgun came out of some nearby woods and shot him. Jones said Craft was struck by a single bullet in the leg and was subsequently taken by a helicopter ambulance to a Tyler hospital. He has since been released. "We have several witnesses who saw the shooter running through the woods and we believe we know who it was," Jones said. "What we don't have right now is a motive for the shooting. No one seems to know why it happened," he added. While at the scene of the shooting, Trinity County Deputy Sheriff Justin Sikes spotted what appeared to be marijuana in plain view inside the residence. Jones said officers obtained a search warrant and did recover a quantity of the drug. The occupant of the residence, Richard Alexander, 36, was arrested on a possession of marijuana charge. The police chief said the shooting is still under investigation and an arrest is pending.
