Church burglary suspect jailed
Trinity Standard -
GROVETON – A third suspect in the December 2012 River of Life Church burglary was taken into custody last week by the Trinity County Sheriff's Department. Robert Clayton was arrested on a theft of property charge stemming from the break-in, according to Sheriff Woody Wallace. Timothy J. Case was previously arrested on a burglary charge while Chris Brannon was taken into custody on a theft of property charge. The burglary occurred when thieves broke into the church, located off Highway 19 south of Trinity, and stole a 1965 Frender bass guitar valued at $10,000, audio equipment and a safe. Sheriff's investigators subsequently traced the stolen guitar to a Huntsville pawn shop where it had been sold for $70. The pawn shop had also sold the instrument and in February it was located in New York where it was recovered and returned to Bro. Mike Loftin at the church. The guitar had been the last gift presented to Lofkin by his late father.
