TRINITY — A total of $58,800 was generated for Kalin's Center during the 3rd Annual "Steak and Stomp" Fundraiser held April 13 at the Trinity Community Center. During the sold-out event, residents of Trinity County came together to raise funds for the Kalin's Center. a children's advocacy center for abused children serving both Houston and Trinity Counties. The community donated homemade desserts as well as silent and live auctions items that ranged from a "Spa Day" to an autographed football by Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. The community also donated door prizes and bought tickets to attend. Special honored guests were Terry and Michelle Waller and Randy and Debbie Karnes, who were recognized for their continued support and help over the years. These autographed t-shirts were auction off and then donated to be hung in the Kalins Center office. Groveton High School students and Trinity Beta Club and cheerleaders volunteered during the night to help make this event a success. David Drake, Sam Shanafelt , Les and Mickey Adkins helped organized the event and the crowd was entertained by Dennis Redman. Co-chairs for the event were Bennie Schiro and Cathey Page and committee members included Rena Tempel, Freda Dyer, Connie Fogle, Bonnie Kennedy, Stacey Hogg and Rickey Hope.
