One jailed after foot pursuit
Trinity Standard - March 2007
TRINITY – A 19-year-old Trinity man was in the Trinity County Jail early this week after being arrested Friday following a foot pursuit through southern Trinity.
James Odom was taken into custody by Officer Stephen Hodges who was investigating an illegal dumping complaint on Pinecrest Road in Trinity.
He was charged with misdemeanor evading arrest and was being held in jail under a $3,000 bond.
According to Police Chief Lynn Gentry, when Hodges arrived at the site of the dumping complaint, he saw a pickup truck beginning to pull away. As the officer approached in his patrol car, a man jumped out of the truck and fled on foot.
Hodges exited his car and pursued the man. The chase began on Pinecrest near the Brantley Street intersection, moved west across the railroad tracks through the Wilkison Hardware parking lot and then back across the tracks.
The suspect was subsequently apprehended while trying to hide in an abandoned mobile home on Van Dyke Street.
Joining in the search for the suspect was Precinct 2 Constable Ricky Hortman, Gentry and Officer Donald Fisher. |
