Trinity Standard -

TRINITY — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6899 and its Ladies Auxiliary are accepting applications for our Trinity County High School Senior Scholarship program for 2014. The $4000 VFW Scholarship is awarded annually to Trinity County high school senior students. Seniors must fill out a VFW application form; submit a copy of their high school transcript, teacher recommendation and a 300-word essay 'My Family's Military Service' on any relative who served in the military. The essay is designed to instill an appreciation and awareness in our young people about the patriotic service and sacrifices their fathers, grandfathers and relatives gave to defend our freedom and our way of life. Education is the key in keeping our country strong and free. This is a special year for all Trinity County seniors and the men and ladies of VFW Post 6899 applaud you on graduation day. "Education is teaching our children to desire the right things."-Plato. For those seniors who are planning to attend college, you are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Deadline for applications is May 1, 2014. Students can get the details and application forms from their school counselors, call the VFW in Trinity at 594-9467 or visit our website at www.vfwpost6899.org (click on 'scholarships') and download an application.
