Trinity Standard -
APPLE SPRINGS — On Wednesday Jan. 8, officers responded to a residence in the Apple Springs area to serve a Warrant for a motion to Revoke Probation out of Trinity County and a Warrant for Non-Payment of Child support out of Angelina County, to William Duke, Jr. When approaching the property, authorities brought their K-9 unit along. Once there, they were charged by a pit bull. Feeling no other recourse they shot the pit bull in the mouth, leaving it injured, but alive. At that point a woman who was believed to have been living at the residence came out of the house and onto the front porch. She was searched and officers found some pills on her person. Authorities detained her until the Warrant was served. She was charged with Possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor offense. Officers made their way into the residence, when they spotted Duke, they saw him slide something under a chest. When searched the officers found 5 grams of methamphetamines. Duke was subsequently charged with Felony 1 Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance Greater than 4 grams.
