Fishing Derby to be held Saturday June 2nd at County Park
Trinity Standard , May 2007
Come join the fun at the 18th annual Fishing Derby at the junction of Hwy 94 & 287 near Groveton, Texas on Saturday June 2, 2007. Registration will be from 7:30 am to 8:00 am; with fishing from 8:00 am until 11:00 am, and the awards ceremony to begin at 11:00 am.
This event is for children up to 16 years of age. We have the Trinity County Lake stocked and ready for this year’s derby. We will be fishing until 11:00 am with an awards ceremony to follow. This year we will have a free hot dog lunch. Bring your own fishing equipment such as rod and reel or cane poles and we’ll have some tackle. You can keep your fish and take home some great farm raised blue catfish.
We will have lots of prizes for each age division. We will give prizes for the overall big fish for boys and girls. The individual age division will receive prizes for top spots according to the weight of the biggest fish. Everyone who registers before the contest will win a prize with their door prize ticket. Be sure to keep track of your entry ticket. Bring the whole family for a fun filled day of fishing, food, and prizes.
The U. S. Forest Service will be conducting a casting contest. Awards will be given for the best casters out of each age group.
