THS scholarships top $1 million

TRINITY -- Scholarships totaling almost $1.1 million were awarded to members of the Trinity High School Class of 2007 during ceremonies held May 22 in Trinity.
A total of 37 difference scholarships -- some with multiple recipients -- were presented during the annual scholarship night hosted by THS officials. The individual awards ranged from a few hundred dollars up to an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, valued at $350,000.
Those presenting awards included local churches and civic organizations to a number of universities and the U.S. military.
Awards presented to the THS Class of 2007 included:
State of Texas Valedictorian Scholarship -- $15,000, to Camille Tyler.
The Al Wiedeman Scholarship -- $100, to Cole Thornton.
The First National Bank’s Dr. Sam Barnes Scholarship -- $4,000, to Jeremy Villarreal.
Trinity Fair Queen’s Cake Scholarship -- $300, to Camille Tyler.
Sam Houston State University Baseball Scholarship -- $12,000, to Dallas Gallant.
Joe Werner Masonic Lodge Scholarships -- $1,000 each to Cole Thornton and Gloria Willis.
U.S. Military Academy at West Point appointment -- $350,000, to Suzi Vasquez.
Trinity Ex-Students Association -- $1,000 each, to Cole Thornton, Dallas Gallant, Gloria Willis and Jeremy Villarreal.
Trinity Ex-Students Association -- $500, to Sam McCollum.
Texas A&M University Scholarship -- $20,000 to Camille Tyler; and $15,000 to Jeremy Villarreal.
Trinity Thoroughbred Scholarships -- $1,500, to Chris Holoman; and $500 to Jasmine Maxie.
Waco, Trinity, Beaumont and Sabine (WBT&S) Railroad Scholarship -- $1,200, to Cole Thornton.
Trinity Lion’s Club Scholarship -- $500, to Bethany Castleberry.
Trinity Scholarship Fund Scholarships -- $900 each, to Beth Richards, Chris Jones, Ashley Richards, Bethany Castleberry, Laura Matherne, Jasmine Maxie, Cole Thornton, Brandon Pena, Brittany Oliver, Whitney Yates, Jeremy Villarreal and Camille Tyler.
Go Texan Scholarship -- Camille Tyler.
VFW Patriotic Art Scholarship -- $300, to Suzi Vasquez.
Abilene Christian University Scholarship -- $9,950, to Jeremy Villarreal.
Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Scholarship -- $500 each, to Camille Tyler and Chris Bullard.
Smith-Hudson Sam Houston State University Scholarship -- $48,000, to Serenity Buck.
Texas State University at San Marcos Scholarship -- $40,000, to Brandon Pena.
Imagine America Scholarship -- $1,000 each, to Jalesa Cridell and Kayla Woods.
Bowen Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship -- $100, to Donell Carr.
Knight of Columbus Scholarship -- $1,500, to Cole Thornton.
Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church Scholarship -- $2,400, to Chris Jones.
McMurry University Scholarship -- $120,000, to Brandon Pena.
U.S. Navy Scholarships -- $37,000 each, to Robert Ringo, Cherish Leith, Patrick Stayton, Donell Carr, Justin Blair and Brad Grider.
Lone Star Baptist Church Scholarships -- $500 each, to Donell Carr, Jalesa Cridell, Chris Holoman, Chris Jackson and Sam McCollum. $100 each to Joey Corley, Charston Mack, Reggie Moss, Antwanette Simmons, Lakendrick Simmons and Yolanda Mack.
Hardin-Simmons University Scholarship -- $20,000, to Jeremy Villarreal.
Austin College Scholarship -- $52,000, to Brandon Pena.
Southwestern University Scholarship -- $47,000, to Brandon Pena.
City of Huntsville Employees’ Scholarship -- $500, to Brandon Pena.
Mid South Synergy Scholarship -- $1,000, to Jeremy Villarreal.
PTA Scholarship -- $750, to Brandon Pena.
East Texas Baptist University Scholarship -- $35,000, to Chris Jones.
Neches River Baptist Association Scholarship -- $38,000, to Chris Jones.
Trinity Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship -- $2,000, to Laura Matherne.
Texas State Teachers Association (TSTA) Scholarship -- $535.88, to Donell Carr.
