Research center dedication slated Oct. 26
Trinity Standard , October 2007

GROVETON – Dedication ceremonies for the Trinity County Museum’s new Genealogical and Historical Research Center will be hosted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Senior Citizens Center at 143 W. Front Street in Groveton.
Immediately following the dedication program, a reception will be held at the Trinity County Museum at 450 W. First Street in Groveton.
During the reception, the museum will display the contents of a time capsule that was buried in 1982 by the Pineywoods Heritage League as part of Groveton’s centennial anniversary.
The new research center is being dedicated to Mrs. Patricia Hensley Rawlins and her late husband, Lt. Col. Joseph W. Hensley, in recognition of their years of work in preserving Trinity County History.
Frank Minton will be the keynote speaker at the dedication and Mrs. Rawlins also is scheduled to share reflections of her life in Trinity County.
Mrs. Rawlins and her late husband co-authored the 1986 book, Trinity County Beginnings, which contains a collection of county history and family information.
Mrs. Rawlins donated the copyright to the book to the Trinity County Historical Commission in 2006 and the book is now in the process of being reprinted. Copies of the book will be on sale at the Trinity County Museum in the near future.
