Sidewalk grant sought by city
Trinity Standard , July 2007
TRINITY – A grant application for money to rebuild some of the city’s downtown sidewalks was submitted July 10 to the Texas Department of Agriculture.
According to City Manager Phil Patchett, the city is seeking funds under the state’s downtown revitalization program.
“We feel fairly confident that we will be approved for the grant this year,” Patchett said.
“We applied last year and finished just out of the money. A total of eight projects were funded and we were ranked at number nine,” he explained.
Under the grant application, the city is seeking $150,000 in state money which will be combined with $45,000 in local funds to replace the sidewalks on both sides of Robb Street (Highway 19) between Main and Caroline (Highway 94).
“We’re going to be attempting to replace the sidewalks throughout the downtown area but we’re going to have to do it in phases. This is just the first phase,” he said.
