Get to Know Piney Wood Lakes Texas Master Naturalists at Jan. 31 Meet & Greet

Posted

What if 40 hours of learning could give you a lifetime of ways to make a difference for Texas wildlife and natural resources? That’s exactly what the Texas Master Naturalist program offers and the 2026 training classes are starting soon.

One may become a Master Naturalist following 40 hours of classroom training, eight hours of advanced training, 40 hours of volunteer work, and a background check through Texas Parks and Wildlife. That’s it – no previous experience required.

With a new Texas Master Naturalist (TMN) training class beginning Feb. 4, Piney Wood Lakes TMN members are hosting a Meet & Greet for enrolled and potential trainees on Jan. 31. Whether prospective members are registered for the training class beginning Feb. 4 or are still on the fence, this event will give them a chance to talk to members and ask lots of questions.

Join chapter members between 10 a.m. and noon on Jan. 31 at Across the Tracks in downtown Livingston  for snacks and coffee, in addition to a taste of the programs and learning opportunities.

Most classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Feb. 4 and running through May 6 (except during spring break week) at the Texas State University System Polk County Center located at 1015 US 59 in Livingston.

Registrations will be available at the event and online: txmn.org/pineywoodlakes/our-mission-statement/become-naturalist/. If you’re interested and want to know more, please see the training FAQ at https://txmn.org/pineywoodlakes/2026-training-classes-faq/.
