The Goodrich City Council met Thursday to discuss its loan process, heavy trash drop off, and rate increases for utilities.
Goodrich Mayor Kelly Nelson informed the council that the process of applying for a loan is complete on the city’s end. The city is awaiting an updated bid in order to proceed with dredging for the wastewater ponds.
The council agreed to provide facilities for heavy trash drop off quarterly instead of monthly to see if conditions improve. Pro Star provides dumpsters and the city allows them to be placed at city hall. However, there have been issues with dumping after the bins fill.
Two 30-yard dumpsters will be provided, and Nelson plans to speak with Pro Star Waste regarding the changes.
The council decided to revisit a rate increase for water and sewer at the March regular meeting for further discussion. The increase has been discussed by council members since the January meeting.
Updating the land at the Goodrich Community Center, Nelson informed council that the city is on the agenda for the land to be surveyed, along with a connecting area that is to be donated back to the city from Ponderosa RV Park.
Tabled was the sewer issue with First Baptist Church of Goodrich until the church makes the necessary repairs, the sewer backs up again, and the church submits their meeting minutes showing if the issue is on their side. They will pay to run a camera in the sewer line.
