Aidney Reeves, 89, of Livingston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025 at CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Livingston Hospital at 3:34 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Reeves; daughters, Frances Reeves and Peggy Crowsey; granddaughter, Rebecca Crowsey; his sister, Cecilia (Bill) Carr; and brother, Ronnie (Juanita) Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Agnes Reeves; his sister, Myrle (Robert) McLaurin; and his brother, John Wilburn (Sue) Reeves.

Born in Camp Ruby, Texas, Aidney attended school in Livingston before graduating from Deer Park High School in 1953. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a radar systems technician, earning Top Secret clearance and serving at bases in Alaska and Alabama.

Following his service, Aidney earned a degree in civil engineering and went on to complete a master’s degree in business administration. Over the decades, he held key leadership roles with the Alabama Highway Department, Rust Engineering, Benard and Burke Engineering, Davey McGee Engineering, and Brown & Root, working across the United States and in 26 foreign countries.

While his professional career was far-reaching, Aidney’s heart was firmly rooted in Polk County, and upon retirement, he returned to his city of birth. He devoted countless hours to improving his community, serving on local boards, supporting civic and charitable causes, and mentoring others. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, teaching Bible classes for many years and guiding others in their faith.

At home, Aidney found joy in the simple and enduring pleasures of life, sharing stories with family and friends, and tending to his beloved gardens. His yard was always a place of beauty and care, with vibrant flowers and carefully nurtured fruit trees that reflected his patience, dedication and love for growth in all forms.

Aidney’s legacy is one of service, integrity and generosity, a life well-lived for his family, his friends, his faith and his community.

Funeral services will be held in Aidney’s honor on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the Livingston Church of Christ in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Lindell Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Camp Ruby Cemetery in Livingston. Visitation will be held on the day of service from 9-10 a.m., with lunch being served at 11 a.m. at the church.
