Polk County 4-H archers joined archers from across East Texas who took aim and showcased their skills at the Ronald Barlow Memorial 3-D Archery Meet, held April 25 at Fairway Farms in San Augustine. Hosted by District 5 4-H, the event brought together youth competitors, families and volunteers for a day of precision and outdoor recreation.

The meet featured a 30-target 3-D course, offering participants a realistic archery experience designed to challenge both beginners and seasoned shooters. Competitors navigated a course set with lifelike animal targets, including newly introduced African game targets, adding a fresh layer of excitement to this year’s competition.

Open to all 4-H members in grades third through 12th statewide, the event also welcomed adult participants – including parents and volunteers – who were registered with a 4-H youth member. Participants competed in a variety of bow classes, including Traditional/Recurve/Longbow, Compound Aided, and NASP Genesis Barebow.

Awards were presented across multiple divisions, recognizing top performances and overall scoring achievements. Several local Polk County 4-H archery project members who competed in the Traditional/Recurve/Longbow Division brought home awards. In the senior class, Carly Lambright earned first place, followed by Mikayla Grimes in second and Adalyn Evans in third. In the intermediate class, Coralee Evans secured first place honors.
