Burglary, lottery arrests made

The Livingston Police Department took two burglary reports on Jan. 17 that were later determined to be related. The first involved a tree service truck where a chainsaw was stolen.

The second was a burglary of a building at a local gas station, where a chainsaw was used to gain entry and lottery tickets were stolen. Both incidents occurred around the same area and time period.

Detectives quickly identified a suspect, Carmen Bruce Henderson, 46, from Goodrich. During the investigation, detectives learned that Henderson and his girlfriend, Nephrateri Sincere Jones, 28, from Goodrich, had separately cashed the stolen lottery tickets, resulting in a combined value of more than $1,000. Arrest warrants were obtained for both individuals.

During the early morning hours of Jan. 24 night shift patrol officers were dispatched to a theft in progress at a body shop located on U.S. Highway 59 South. Officers located the suspect, who was identified as Henderson, who was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Henderson was located with Jones, and both were taken into custody.

Henderson was charged with burglary of a building, burglary of a vehicle, claim lottery prize by fraud, theft of property, and possession of a controlled substance. His bonds total $28,000. Jones was charged with claim lottery prize by fraud and held on a $10,000 bond.
