The city of Goodrich discussed an audit, water leaks, waste services and holiday celebrations at their regular meeting for October Thursday in the community center.
The city is still in the process of receiving an audit in hopes of a loan to dredge the wastewater ponds. Goodrich City Secretary Felicia Garrett said the latest hope for the completed audit is by the end of the month.
The city sent financial information from previous years. A bid will also be formulated for cost of dredging the ponds, as a company visited the site recently.
Utility workers said leaks have been repaired near the school. Around six or seven problems were at or near that location. However, there is another leak near city hall that has been an issue for years. It was suggested let the line be dug up and the road torn out to be repaired. Council asked that the job go out for bid.
Council will hold a Halloween celebration, giving out treats and candy to those who drive through city hall. The fire department will also help. It will begin Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. To keep traffic moving, they ask that vehicles not enter from Loop 393.
Goodrich Mayor Kelly Nelson reminded all that there is a burn ban throughout the county.
ProStar is now charging for overloaded dumpsters and per bag on overloaded trash cans. The additional fees mean the city will likely need to increase customer charges to cover the costs. The item will be placed on November’s agenda for a decision.
