The Livingston City Council will canvass the Nov. 5 election returns and consider action on a resolution declaring the results during its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Incumbent Mayor Judy B. Cochran defeated Challenger Joshua Grant with 914 votes to his 733 votes. Voters returned Incumbent Alan Cook to serve on the city council and elected Andy Evans to fill the council seat left vacant with the resignation of Marion A “Bid” Smith.
The oaths of office will be administered to the newly elected officials and certificates of election will be presented to them. A mayor pro-tem will be elected for the 2024-2025 term.
The 2025 calendar year holiday observances are expected to be set. Council will also consider action on a proposed resolution to prohibit specific applications that pose a security risk as set out in Chapter 620 of the Texas Government Code.
City Manager Bill S. Wiggins will present his monthly update on projects and events.
An executive session is on the agenda for Council to consult with the city attorney. Any action, however, will be taken upon return to open session.
Other items on the agenda include approval of the minutes of the Oct. 8 meeting and accounts over $500.
