Funeral services for Cloyd Edward Clevenger, 81, of Goodrich, Texas, will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Schwab City Baptist Church in Schwab City, Texas with Bro. David Jones officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Knupple Cemetery in Silsbee, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5-9 p.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
Mr. Clevenger was born May 19, 1943, in Newark, Ohio. Although he was not born in Texas, he got here as fast as he could, reporting to Lackland AFB in San Antonio for Basic Military Training. It was in Texas he met the love of his life, Dorothy Holcomb, whom he married, and raised his children. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after more than 27 years of serving his country honorably.
He was a Deacon for Schwab City Baptist Church where he served the Lord. He has held various roles in numerous organizations and committees where he served his community. This whole time he served Dorothy as a loving and dutiful husband. It was in all through these acts of service that he truly was a leader. Mr. Clevenger passed away November 24, 2024, in Lufkin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Elaine Clevenger; parents; and great grandson, Gabriel Salcedo.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Clevenger of Vacaville, California; son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Sandra Clevenger of Lacey, Washington; son, Anthony Clevenger and fiancé Leslie of Diana, Texas; grandchildren, Caitlin Clevenger, Kyra Maddox, Elizabeth Hicks, Liam Clevenger, Brandon Stewart, E.J. Stewart, Frank Acosta, and Giovanni Rhymes; great grandchildren, Hayden Stewart, Aurora Acosta, Danny Acosta, Franky Acosta, Amelie Acosta, Kiellye Acosta, Jiyeon Acosta, and Jooyeon Acosta, Sebastian Salcedo, Raphael Salcedo; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
