Corrigan-Camden bats alive

The Corrigan Bulldogs have begun to hit the baseball better, defeating the visiting Colmesneil Bulldogs by run-rule, 15-0.

Corrigan started in the first inning, as Blake Elam singled after one out. A second out was recorded on a popup. Cooper Kilgore was hit by a pitch, Kreek Johnson reached on a third baseman's error Layton Cox singled, and Braylon Levy and Uriel Danini delivered consecutive infield singles. Will Ratliff walked, and with the bases loaded, Mason Murphy doubled to center, clearing the bags to leave the inning with a 7-0 advantage. 

 The visiting Bulldogs threatened in the top of the second, but struck out with bases loaded to end that rally.

In the bottom of the inning, Michael Murphy got the inning going when he was hit by a pitch. Kilgore reached by base on balls. Johnson had an infield single, Cox reached on an error, and Levy gained first on a base on balls. Danini added an infield single and Ratliff hit a sacrifice fly to score Cox, ending the scoring to leave the local Bulldogs ahead, 11-0.

 In the third, Mason "Nugget" Murphy again left Colmesneil scoreless, bringing the home Bulldogs back to the plate quickly. Michael Murphy led off with a walk, Kilgore was hit by a pitch, Johnson reached on a first baseman's error, and Cox added a run on a sacrifice fly. Levy reached on a walk, Ratliff singled in two runs, and Mason Murphy had a single to run the score to a game-ending 15-0. 

Corrigan-Camden now owns a district record of 3-2.
